This Sedona Elopement Reminded Me What Really Matters…

With every client, in every session, I learn something. This one stayed with me.

A couple elopes in Sedona Arizona with the sun setting behind them

Fifteen years ago, Coral met Tony - the love of her life. Not long after, he was diagnosed with a rare brain cancer…one so rare, they were told, that is usually only found in autopsies.

She didn’t pause. She sold their home, got a remote job, moved into an RV, and became his full-time caregiver. She taught herself how to grow food, raise chickens, and create a life around optimal health and survival.

Around commitment.

Somehow, against all odds, he recovered. Just this past October, he was declared 100% cancer-free and his journey contributed to the medical research that now offers a cure for others.

I still can’t wrap my head around the weight of that.

When Coral first reached out to me for photography and videography for their Sedona elopement, she said:

“Planning this isn’t stressful. We’ve known stress… this is nothing.”

That sentence hasn’t left me.

Their ceremony took place on Baby Bell in Sedona, surrounded by red rocks, a few loved ones, and a quiet sense of intimacy. It was about presence. About honoring what they’d been through to get here.

After photographing and filming their elopement, I went home and hugged my husband a little tighter. Held on a little longer. Because stories like this one are why I do what I do.

My job isn’t just about capturing images - it’s about bearing witness. It’s about remembering that these tiny moments in front of the lens are never really tiny. They’re the ones that last.

As we walked back to our cars with dusk approaching rapidly, their song played and we had to stop for one last dance in the parking lot - ending the night with a few shed tears and a whole lotta love.

Planning a Sedona Elopement That Actually Feels Like You

If you’re thinking of eloping in Sedona, here’s what I’d say: forget what it’s supposed to look like. There are no rules here! Whether you want a quiet hike to a private red rock overlook, or a short ceremony with just your closest people, Sedona is full of spaces that feel sacred without needing a crowd.

I specialize in small weddings, intimate elopements, proposals, and engagement sessions here in Sedona because those are the moments that feel the most true. If you’re looking for someone to just show up, snap a few pretty shots, and head out, I’m probably not your person. But if you want someone who’s going to listen, plan with intention, and capture what actually matters - you’re in the right place.
